Climate threatens livestock in Somalia#
Somalia is currently facing the harsh realities of climate change – recurring droughts, irregular rainfall and increasing environmental degradation. These challenges have severely affected the livelihoods of millions, leading to loss of Livestock, reducing agricultural productivity and growing food insecurity.
In southwest state of Somalia, the situation is particularly concerning . Low and unpredictable rainfall continues to threaten both people and their animals, especially in the rural communities that rely heavily on livestock for survival. Water scarcity and pasture shortages are becoming more frequent, endangering animal welfare and community resilience.
At SAARO , we recognize that proctecting animals means protecting livelihoods and the environment. We are committed to raising awareness, advocating for sustainable solutions, and working with partners to support both people and and animals affected by the changing climate.
Together, we can act to safeguard our environment, our animals and our future.
